Homemaker Aides
Living independently in one's own home is the desire of most elderly people. Sometimes maintaining a home, shopping or meal preparation is simply too physically demanding. Visits an older adult in their home, determines and may schedule home assessment. Based on income.
A person is referred to us for an assessment. The Case Coordinator conducts this assessment and makes recommendations to the Area Agency on Aging (AAA). If the recommendation is for homemaking help, or home respite, the AAA will hire our staff homemaker aides to do the work. These State funds are very limited and usually there is a waiting list.
Knowing that people need assistance right away, NOCCOA has a cost share program available for clients living in millage supported areas. Based on income, clients will pay a portion of the hourly fee for services, until they can be added to the AAA program. Millage funds pay the balance. Each client is unique, so, to learn about this program, a person needs to talk to a Case Coordinator. Residents living in the following areas are eligible for this cost share program: Chester Township, Coopersville, Ferrysburg, Grand Haven City, Grand Haven Township, Polkton Township, Spring Lake Township, Spring Lake Village, and Wright Township.
