Unmet Needs

Sometimes people cannot afford to buy costly items such as hearing aids, ramps, eye glasses, and dentures. Yet, these items would make a huge difference in the quality of life for the person needing them. The State of Michigan has some very limited funds for such items. NOCCOA works with the Area Agency on Aging and other local agencies to try to find funding for such one time, big ticket items referred to as Unmet Needs. This program has an income and asset limit requirement to qualify, and the Senior will be responsible to help pay a small portion of this cost.

A person needs to meet with a Case Coordinator to determine availability of these funds. For the Grand Haven office call 616-842-9210 and in Coopersville call 616-997-1786.

On a very limited basis, for millage supported area residents only, NOCCOA can help with emergency unmet needs. If you think you qualify, contact a Case Coordinator to determine the availability of these funds. For Grand Haven, call 616-842-9210. For the Coopersville office, call 616-997-1786.
